Using EL 3.0 and EL 4.0 side-by-side

Jun 25, 2009 at 4:56 PM

I have a scenario where a web application is currently using EL 3.0. The same web application is required to use a custom assembly which in-turn uses EL 4.0. We are not ready to upgrade the web application to EL 4.0 just as yet, so it needs to continue using EL 3.0 for a while. Any best practices guidance on how to implement the two versions of EL side-by-side? Thanks!

Hi,

Some guidelines are discussed in the documentation and is available thru this link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc511608.aspx

Also, there are pointers given in a book called "Definitive Guide To The Microsoft Enterprise Library" but this is for the lower version. But still you can check it out, avalable in this link: http://books.google.com.ph/books?id=eZXOfFiv6A4C&pg=PA62&lpg=PA62&dq=Enterprise+Library+side-by-side&source=bl&ots=Ww3lSrjLiy&sig=ZAPd9_iB7IDd0jDoiknuaOfxRYM&hl=tl&ei=3nlESpSdKZSuswOrwvn1DQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=9
