Clustering Distributor Service

Hi.

We are using the Ent Lib Distributor service in a load balanced app server cluster as documented here (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff647847.aspx), and wondered how we would go about clustering the distruibutor service so that it is not a single point of failure.

Ideally, this would involve installing the service in an active passive fashion in a cluster, but failing over the service on the event of the app server running the active instance of the distributor service running.

ideally, this would extend to the MSMQ as well, although i realise that the clustering of MSMQ is probably outside the scope of this discussion.

Thanks

The Distributor Service is not cluster-aware.  However, you should be able to configure the Distributor Service as a Generic Service so that the Distributor Service will run in an active-passive manner.  This blog gives a good walk-through in Creating and Configuring a Generic Application Resource.
