i'm looking for a sample of the entlib, especially for the logging block. what is an expedient implementation? for example: if you want to use just one logging.config file for all applications such as webservices, erp systems, nt services, et cetera.

do i have to build categories for single application types or would it be better to categorize by logentry type (emails, eventlogs, et cetera).

is there a little guideline oder showcase?

Well in your case, I think that it would be better to categorize it by log entry, it would provide reuseable categories for all applications. You can also define those that are application specific if there is a need.

Have you tried the Ent Lib Hands-on-Labs? You can find it here . There is also quickstart application samples when you install the ent lib source code. Usually you will find it in this directory <Drive Letter>:\EntLib41Src\Quick Starts\
