Using ASP.NET 2.0 Forms Authentication with Security App Block providers

Hi!

The ASP.NET 2.0 Forms Authentication Components are easy and dependable - all the way back to their origins in early Commerce Servers.

But the Guidance frameworks, such as Web Client like the Enterprise Library Security Providers.

I found one example where they seem to be connected, at least at the point of entry: http://adamgetchell.blogspot.com/2005/03/enterprise-library-authentication.html

(Thanks Adam Getchell for digging this up!)

However a lot of searching turned up nothing that gives me confidence that this is a common scenario.

Anyone have any insight about the consequences or experience with the integration of these two groups of components?

Thanks,

Kimball

Hi,

You can use the pure ASP.NET Forms Authentication to authenticate a user since the Authentication and profile providers of Ent lib aren't available since v2. Another related post, see this: http://www.codeplex.com/entlib/Thread/View.aspx?ThreadId=27095
