Has the XmlLogFormatter been deprecated?  I see the source file but it is not decorated with a custom CustomFormatterData attribute like the other Formatters, e.g. TextFormattter and BinaryFormatter.

I don't think so, the XmlLogFormatter is not decorated with the CustomFormatterData attribute even in version 3.0.

Besides not having the attribute, it doesn't have the ctor that would allow it to be used as a custom formatter. In order to use it as such you can either update the source code to add the attribute and a ctor which takes a NameValueCollection parameter, or create a subclass with just the attribute and the ctor in a new assembly.

Hope this helps,
