I liked to know what are the supported databases of MS Enterprise Library 3.1?

Please mention the minimum requirements for using these databases.

1. SQL Server    : Supported (MDAC)

2. Oracle :

3. Sybase :

4. DB2 :

It will be great to have any POC regarding this issue.

Hi,

The .NET Framework has a built in provider for SQL Server and Oracle database. You can refer here for the requirements. As with Sybase and DB2, honestly, I haven't tried them yet. I know that there are some downloadable providers for these databases that you can consume. It may target a specific version of database or requires some other components. You can refer to its ReadMe files or any other related document before utilizing these providers.

Does it work with SQLCE 4.0? Is connection pooling fixed in 3.1?

Hi,

I guess it won't work since 3.1 targets .NET Framework 2.0 while SQLCE 4.0 requires .NET 3.5 SP1 or .NET 4.0 Framework. Regarding connection pooling, all of the known problems has been addressed on the next release (4.0 and up) of Enterprise Library.

Thanks all for your valuable information.

I am sharing my findings while working with Enterprise library 3.1...

It is ok with SQL Server and ORACLE with their provider buit it in .net framwork.

I have tested with Sybase having connection through OLEDB. and it works fine as it

consumes OLEDB provider for Sybase.

Same is applicable for DB2 too..

So I can suggest use native client for ORACLE and SQL Server.

Use OLEDB for Sybase and DB2.
