NuGet Package?

Any thoughts from Microsoft about packaging up the Enterprise Library Blocks for use through NuGet in Visual Studio?  It would definitely make it easier to manage new releases moving forward.

Thanks.

It's certainly on our radar, just need to shake free some cycles to actually do it. I completely agree, I think the experience would be much, much easier. The only real issue is what to do with the config tool, since NuGet can't install it (and probably shouldn't, since the config tool isn't a project level dependency).

My calendar for tomorrow is currently quadruple booked all day, and the following couple of weeks look equally messy. It probably won't be soon at this rate, but it will happen.

I would be keen to see these available via a NuGet package.

Yes, that's our plan. I've already built the package dependency map. Stay tuned for updates.

Any movements?

Hi guys,

Any updates regarding EntLib 5 NuGet package?

IMHO, config tool is not required  to be in this package. I would prefer to have libs only.

We are building individial packages for each block for multiple platforms (.NET and Silverlight). Please be patient as we are working on this now.

All EntLib blocks for both .NET and Silverlight have been released via NuGet today.

Is it possible to add some basic configuration when getting the nuget package for Entlib ?

Jun 28, 2011 at 3:26 AM

Yes, it's possible. What kind of configuration would you like to see?

Jun 29, 2011 at 11:56 PM

It seems the configuration tool available with the standalone entlib makes entries for assembly version 5.0.414.0 while the nuget packages include version 5.0.505.0 so you cant use the configuration tool.  Is there a 505 version of the configuration tool available?

Yes, it's available too. Not as a standalone download though, but as a part of the EntLib 5.0 MSI. Alternatively, you can build it from source.

The MSI you linked to contains the 5.0.414.0 version of the config tool, not the 5.0.505.0 version.  I guess we have to build it ourselves...

Sorry, wrong link. Here's the right one: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=6836

You can get the standalone tool from there or also from the VS Extension Gallery.
