MOSS 2007

SQL Server 2005

Query:-  It is easy to configure ASP.NET web application to catch exceptions (unhandled) and send the error stack by an email mesage using Exception Handling and Logging application blocks.

This is successfully implement in ASP.NET application and good to see messages when an exception occurs within application.

I would like to know how to configure SharePoint portal when Portal is down or an unhandled exception occurs to send email alert using Exception Handling and Logging applicaiton blocks.

Your help and insight is appreciated.

Hi sukumarraju,

I haven't really worked with Sharepoint before so I'm not really familiar with it but you may want to check this out first http://blogs.msdn.com/zwsong/archive/2010/02/18/using-enterprise-library-in-sharepoint-development-projects.aspx.

And on the exact implementation, see if this will work for you - http://www.codeproject.com/KB/sharepoint/Handling_Error_Centrally.aspx.  You can replace the call to Logger.Write in the Application_Error event to handle the exception object using EHAB.

Thanks Sarah.

It is good resource to start with. I will implement this and update the thread once it is working as expected.
