There is no field defined as "From email" password.

I am wondering that how an email server would allow us to send email without authentication.

Hi, I think I'm not clear on what are you exactly asking for.  Are you asking how to support email authentication using Email Trace Listener?  Or how to bypass the authentication?

Thanks for the reply.

My question is regarding the configuration of email trace listener. When you configure email trace listener you have specify SMTP Server, port, From and To email. There should be also a field of the password to specify the password for the email account from which we want to send the email because majority of the email server do not allow to send email without authentication.

For example I have configured the email trace listener and specified "xyz@gmail.com" as "from" email address, now i know that gmail will not allow to send an email from the xyz@gmail.com account without authenticating it.

Ah, entlib doesn't directly support this but there is an implementation of that in the entlib contrib - http://www.codeplex.com/AuthEmailTraceListen.  Or you can try the workaround posted here (configuring the <mailSettings> element: http://entlib.codeplex.com/Thread/View.aspx?ThreadId=57165

Note:  This feature will be available in v5.0.  It's already included in the Beta release.
